Bill was elected to serve Renfrew North in 2007 and is Convenor of Regulatory Functions on the Council as well as Chair of Renfrew Local Area Committee, also serving on Strathclyde Police Joint Board.

Bill lives in Renfrew is married and has one grown up daughter.

He is a retired Police Officer having served 30 years with both The City of Glasgow Police and Strathclyde Police.

Bill has been Chairman of a Primary School board was involved in funding raising for the Parents Association in one of the Renfrew secondary schools.

Bill was a voluntary Renfrew Community Councillor, past Community Council Secretary, and a past Treasurer for a local church.
