Campaigns

Here's a snapshot of some of our previous campaigns:

Cllr Cathy McEwan campaigning

'30 Acres' Skatepark for Renfrew

A committee of local enthusiastic skateboarders called 30 Acres was established to take forward the project to build a skatepark in Renfrew.  They have shown themselves to be a credit to their town and are fully supported by a range of community organisations and community police.

The SNP fully support their efforts to build a Skatepark and are helping make the dream turn into reality for the young people of the town.

Renfrew Common Good Fund

The Common Good Fund - The SNP said the Renfrew Common Good Fund should be controlled locally and spent in Renfrew, and now it is.

Renfrew Environment

The SNP take an active interest in protecting our environment.

Community Cleanups
The SNP have got their hands dirty by organising and helping out at community clean ups, including Arkleston, Kirklandneuk and Blythswood.  Members, as well as our councillors mucked in to bring local hot-spots up to scratch.

Public Transport

Promoting and protecting public transport is essential, we have pushed for better links and more accessible vehicles.

We have also worked to ensure the future of the Renfrew Ferry, and promoted 2 vessels to SPT (Strathclyde Passenger Transport).

The Renfrew Ferry has existed in one form or another for hundreds of years.  It has served Renfrew well, and has enjoyed a high level of passenger numbers.

We actively support the Ferry to ensure that its' future is supported by the transport authority.

We are also lobbying for Fastlink at Renfrew Riverside

Playparks

Campbell Street Playpark

The SNP have helped upgrade playparks in the town, including Robertson Park, Kirklandneuk Park and Campbell Street Park.

Projects are being considered for other parks in the town, such as Knockhill Park.

The London Levy

In 2006 Renfrew SNP launched a campaign 'END THE LONDON LEVY'.

The campaign exposed the London Levy - the sum per person in Scotland which subsidises the rest of the UK.  This is paid as the price for being part of the UK.

The wealth we are handing away could be used to wipe out pensioner poverty, child poverty and improve our public services.

Renfrewshire taxpayers often wonder where their money is going - it's time they knew, £1,000 for every man, woman, and child in Renfrewshire is channelled south to prop up the London government that still rules over us.

It's time to end the LONDON LEVY, it's time for INDEPENDENCE.

Renfrew Boundary

Renfrew Town SNP appreciates the rich history of our town and remain unashamedly protective of our town boundaries.  We successfully helped in the boundary commission dispute with Glasgow, ensuring that the land at Braehead and Kings Inch Road is retained in Renfrew.

renfrewshire WheelThe Renfrewshire Wheel
Renfrew of course!

The SNP ensured the big wheel attraction at Braehead has Renfrewshire all over it!  Renfrew SNP share the strong sense of identity for Renfrew, and protect the town's boundaries.

Farmfoods Campaign

Renfrew Town SNP worked alongside community campaigners to save the Renfrew Farmfoods store in the High Street.  At just a weeks' notice over a thousand people signed the community-led petition which, with pressure from SNP Councillors, helped save the popular local store.

Renfrew Town HallRenfrew Town Hall

Unarguably the jewel in the crown, the town hall should be a magnificent centrepiece of Renfrew.  The SNP are working hard to put in place funding to completely refurbish the building.
